The R3 Pro Link system has two components: the Hub and the camera (or cameras). The Hub plugs into your home router via Ethernet and acts as a long-range signal extender. Your R3 Pro cameras communicate wirelessly back to the hub, and everything flows through your existing home internet to the GardePro Link App on your phone (this is a different app than the GardePro Mobile).
It's a clever solution to a real problem. Cellular cameras work great but cost money every month. Traditional Wi-Fi cameras typically reach a range of 30–165 feet. The R3 Pro Link splits the difference—no cellular fees and dramatically extended range.
One important note: the cameras cannot connect directly to your home Wi-Fi. The Hub is required for all wireless communication and must be connected to a router via Ethernet. Keep that in mind when planning your setup.
The upfront cost is higher than a single cellular camera, but the long-term math tells a very different story.
GardePro advertises up to 3,000 feet in open air, with a typical use range of around 1,600 feet. Those numbers are real — but they depend heavily on terrain and what's between the hub and camera.
In our testing on wooded hunting property with leaves off the trees, the maximum reliable distance we achieved was approximately 417 yards. Beyond that, the camera wouldn't maintain a consistent connection. The signal was stable at 417 yards — we just couldn't push it further through the timber.
To put that in perspective: 417 yards covers a lot of ground for most private land hunters. If your hub is mounted near a house or barn, a large portion of most properties falls within reach. But if you're expecting to push cameras deep into remote timber, half a mile or more from any building with internet, this system probably won't get you there.
Hub placement matters a lot. Mounting the Hub higher, closer to an outside wall, or even outdoors (it's weatherproof) can meaningfully extend your range. We kept ours inside near windows during testing, which likely cost us some distance. Hunters who mount them outdoors on a roofline or elevated position have reported better results.
This is where the R3 Pro Link genuinely impressed us. During our first winter deployment, we averaged 20–30 pictures per day, and after two full months the battery was down to just 32% charge. In month two we switched to sending video previews in addition to photos — which did pull the battery faster — but it made it through both months without a charge.
That battery performance beats most cellular cameras we've used, and it makes sense: long-range Wi-Fi transmission uses less power than a cellular radio constantly searching for a tower signal.
The R3 Pro runs on a 7,800mAh rechargeable lithium battery. Solar panels are available separately (SP350 and SP1000) for indefinite deployment, but based on our experience, a two-month check interval is very manageable — which also means fewer trips in and less scent disturbance near your stands.
Pro tip: Buy a spare lithium battery cartridge when you purchase the camera. Without one, a low battery means pulling the camera, driving home to charge it, and heading back out — three trips into your hunting area. A spare means a quick field swap and one trip home.
The GardePro Link App is clean, reliable, and useful. Push notifications arrive quickly, and the app shows battery percentage, remaining storage, last check-in time, and hub/camera online status at a glance.
Notifications only lagged when we had a weak cell signal on our own phones — not a knock on the app.
We had an early experience with what seemed like excessive false triggers. It turned out to be a settings issue — GardePro customer service walked us through the fix, and after adjusting sensitivity, false triggers essentially disappeared. The camera is extremely sensitive when set that way (one memorable night photo captured some large bugs flying past the lens), but dialed in correctly, it performs well.
Important update: When the R3 Pro Link launched, there were fees for video previews and HD video requests. GardePro has since eliminated those charges entirely. The X60P Live Max is about as close to plug-and-play as cellular trail cameras get. Strap it to a tree, activate it through the GardePro Mobile app, and you'll receive photos and videos on your phone from anywhere (that has cell signal).
The camera auto-connects to whichever of AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon has the strongest signal at your location. Three PIR sensors deliver a 0.1-second trigger speed across a 120-degree detection angle, and the built-in 32GB memory means no SD card headaches. But, this also means you either have to use a data plan or connect to the camera with a device to download the photos.

On a full charge with standard photo volume — roughly 50–100 photos per day — battery life runs approximately one month. Live streaming draws the battery down faster, so if you're using that feature regularly, lean on the solar panel.
We paired an SP300 solar panel with the X60P Live Max starting in early November 2025 and ran it through February 7, 2026 — over three full months — without any battery loss. The camera held 100% charge throughout, including through winter conditions. If you're running this camera year-round, a solar panel essentially eliminates battery management as a concern for most of the year.
Same advice as the R3 Pro: buy a spare lithium battery cartridge when you purchase. A dead battery without a spare means multiple trips into your hunting area. A spare means one quick swap, and you're done.
The X60P Live Max shoots 48MP stills and 1296p HD video. Night vision extends to 100 feet via 36 no-glow 940nm infrared LEDs — same wavelength as the R3 Pro, meaning animals won't be spooked by a flash.
In practice, nighttime image quality is excellent. We've gotten enough detail in evening photos to identify individual bucks by rack characteristics and body size — which is ultimately the standard that matters. Trigger speed has been a non-issue; we haven't experienced blurry or missed animals.
The image quality impressed us more than we expected at this price point. Clarity, daylight color, and video smoothness were all better than anticipated.
We hunt in an area with solid cellular coverage and haven't experienced dropped transmissions or dead zones. That said, if you're in an area with spotty service, cellular cameras of any brand will frustrate you. The X60P Live Max auto-connects to the best available network, but it can't create a signal that isn't there. Check AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon coverage maps for your hunting area before you buy.
